Our Wild Sumac Seed Oil (Rhus coriaria), is harvested by us and partners from various areas in Troodos mountains. We harvest the seeds, and then patiently separate the leaves and stems, remove the powder and prepare the seeds for pressing. The hard seed gives very little oil, and it is quite thick and waxy, with a bright red color and tangy smell and taste. We grind the powder separately and package it as a spice.
Wild sumac is a remarkable plant native to the Mediterranean region. It is known for its tangy, citrus-like flavor, often used in Middle Eastern cuisine to enhance dishes like salads, meats, and rice.
The oil pressed from its seeds carries a unique rich taste and is celebrated for its antioxidant properties. We aren’t aware of any other producer of the oil currently, and are happy to be able to offer it to the public, despite all the hard work involved! It has been used to support digestive health and as a natural remedy for respiratory issues. The oil is rich in beneficial fatty acids and antioxidants which may promote skin health and hydration when applied topically.
In addition to its culinary and medicinal uses, wild sumac is also associated with various cultural practices. In some regions, it symbolizes resilience and the beauty of nature. In Cyprus it's called "ρούδιν". During the British occupation until 1970, the leaves of sumac shrub were used in tanning animal hides, which is reflected in its name, "coriaria."
The main components of our Wild Sumac Seed Oil are: Linoleic acid (42%), Oleic acid (36%), Palmitic acid (15%), Stearic acid (2%), and cis-Vaccenic acid (2%).

I used sumac oil on my forehead for only 2 days and noticed a difference in seborhieic dermatitis a type of eczema. Within 3 days it had almost completely disappeared. I find it needs weekly application to keep under control...excellent result. Nothing else has been this effective
After a recent visit to Cyprus, I came across the MOST AMAZING production centre of essential oils based in Larnaca. I’m a retired reflexologist and had found no oils to equal the quality of theirs.
I did a reflexology session on a friend with Sumac Oil, while in Cyprus. She had been suffering from red, flaky and itchy skin between the toes of her right foot for 14 months. The oil is soft and velvety to the touch, and was absorbed into the skin perfectly appropriately to allow this smooth touch right to the end.
She rang a few days later to say that her skin was very much improved - and the itching had completely disappeared. Two weeks have gone by and still no itching !

I had never heard of sumac oil, even though I had made syrup from Sumac flowers in Canada, according to an Indigenous recipe (delicious). My first encounter with sumac oil was through a reflexology treatment, and my reflexologist gave this oil a standing ovation. I continued to apply it to my feet, where I had been suffering from eczema for 1 year. Within a few days, my red exzema, and all the dry hard skin was gone. I have been using the facial oil blend and am so grateful because my skin (very dry and sensitive) has become younger and more elastic. I am addicted!!! I am so grateful that you ship across Europe! Thank you so much for these beautiful, high quality products!
