White Grapeseed Oil

Our grapeseed is sourced from Xynisteri grapes, a local variety native to Cyprus, from several wineries around the island. The majority of our grapeseed supply comes from a winery close to our workshop, in Kato Drys. Instead of throwing the seeds back into the fields (or making them into Zivania), our friends at the wineries wash and dry them in the sun. We store them in our workshop, and when we need to press them, we pass them through sieves and the wind to remove the skins and stems. We press grapeseed monthly, in our expeller, at 40 degrees Celsius, so it is always fresh!

Because our grapeseed oil is not refined, it retains the color and smell and taste of the seeds. It has a slightly sweet flavor and aroma, and a light green or straw-like color.

We use grapeseed oil in many of our blends, and it is the base for our liquid soap. We also use it as the base for our culinary oils. There are many wineries in Cyprus, so it is an abundant raw material!

Because grapeseed is very hard and fibrous, and it has a relatively low oil content, there isn’t much record of use of the oil in ancient times. Nuts, and tree seeds with higher oil content were easier to extract by hand or with the equipment available at the time. Modern grapeseed oil production began only about 100 years ago, in France.

Most grapeseed oil available commercially is heavily-refined. The producers do not remove the skins and stems before production, but use a variety of chemicals and other industrial methods to remove any negative smell, taste or color. Try our grapeseed oil and you’ll see it has very little resemblance to what you can buy in the supermarket!

The main components of our white grapeseed oil are: Linoleic acid (66%), Oleic acid (19%), Palmitic acid (9%), and Stearic acid (5%).

Product Information:

All of our products are made with 100% natural extracts. We add 2% moringa oil to our grapeseed oil, for its antioxidant properties. As nature is diverse, each plant is unique, leading to variations in color and fragrance of our essential oils, seed and nut oils, and extracts.

Caution & Care:

Store in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat. If that is not possible, store it in the refrigerator. Do not use if allergic to any ingredients. Always conduct a patch test before applying to the skin.
