Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) Peel Essential Oil is known to have the finest scent among all the other citrus oils. Our Bergamot Peel Essential Oil is expressed, not distilled, so it more closely resembles the actual fruit. Our bergamots are sourced from three suppliers, a citrus farm in Potamia, and two of our community members' gardens, one in Silikou and the other in Nikokleia. Our latest batches of Bergamot Peel Essential Oil were extracted in December 2025.

Our production process takes all day, and requires a small army of volunteers. We process 150kg Bergamot at a time, and can produce half a liter from a full day's work. First we wash and dry the fruits, and then we peel them one by one and feel them into our expeller. Finally we use a series of mechanical means to separate the precious oil from the resulting emulsion.

Bergamots are mainly sourced from Southern Italy, but they are cultivated on a small-scale in Cyprus, and are used to make spoon sweets from the peel. The essential oil is widely used in perfumery, and the dried peels are well-known the flavoring they give to Earl Grey tea.

Expressed Citrus Peel Essential Oils are can cause photosensitivity, please dilute carefully and avoid sun contact after applying to the skin.
