The Moringa tree (Moringa oleifera) grows quite well in Cyprus, even though it is not native to the island. It prefers hot, dry climates, and can thrive with very little rain. It is often referred to as the "miracle tree", due to its incredible nutritional and medicinal properties.

Our moringa seeds are harvested from an organic farm in the Paphos area, and we also get small contributions of seeds from the gardens of our customers! There is a multi-step process to prepare them for pressing. After harvesting our volunteers patiently remove the seeds from the pod. Then we crush them prior to feeding them into our expeller machine, where the oil is extracted at between 30-40 degrees Celsius. In winter months it’s a bit challenging to filter the oil, because, like coconut oil, it solidifies below 20 degrees Celsius.

Our Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil has a light, nutty aroma and is easily absorbed into the skin. It's rich in essential fatty acids, making it an excellent moisturizer that nourishes and rejuvenates dry or aging skin. Its antioxidant properties help fight free radicals, making it a popular ingredient in skincare products. Moringa oil is also used in hair treatments, helping to strengthen and promote healthy hair growth. Moringa oil is unique among seed and nut oils, in that its fatty acid composition makes it highly resistant to oxidation. That’s one of the reasons it was used as a base oil in Ancient Egypt to carry the perfumes used for religious and cosmetic purposes.

In the kitchen, moringa oil's mild flavor makes it a fantastic addition to salads, dressings, or light cooking, where it can enhance the dish with both its nutritional value and delicate taste.

Since ancient times, all parts of the moringa tree, including its seeds, roots, bark, flowers, and leaves were being used for culinary and medicinal purposes. In regions like South Asia and Africa, moringa leaves are a dietary staple, rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. The oil extracted from moringa seeds, often called "ben oil" for its high concentration of behenic acid, has been used for centuries in skincare, cooking, and holistic healing practices.

In traditional medicine, moringa is prized for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. It is used to support digestion, boost immune function, and maintain healthy skin and hair. Moringa leaves and oil are often included in remedies to address malnutrition, fatigue, and joint pain. The seeds themselves have been used in water purification processes, a testament to the plant's remarkable versatility.
