Marjoram Essential Oil

Our Marjoram Essential Oil was steam distilled from in June 2024.

The marjoram we sourced for our distillations came from one industrial grower.

Botanical name: Origanum marjoram

The genus "Origanum" comes from the Greek word Origanon. It is speculated that the term "Ορίγανον" is made of two elements: "όρος" meaning mountains and "γάνος" brightness—with the resulting compound name meaning something like the brightness of the mountains also interpreted as the joy of mountains.

There is a confusion when using the term marjoram as others refer to Sweet marjoram or Spanish marjoram. The species we distilled is Origanum marjorana. Despite being in the same genus as oregano, marjoram has a different aroma. Our Marjoram has a sweet and strong aroma.
